My Enemy, My Friend

Of hardships unnumbered

Of burns endured by lips too sick

Of death appointed by life unusual

Of loving with the intensity

Of hate

Of gentle eternal, we will never know

Of nothing ever good enough

Of a journey down in flames

Of a closer not with thee

Of vows too great to cross, and unworthy

Of spring blossoms, that fall apart

My enemy, my friend
