We Already Have Everything

Keep wasting more time, ‘cause you’re afraid to start

Never bother to look; there is nothing to find

Keep clinging on; it’s our usual habit

Never bother to reach, ‘cause you’re already there

That feeling you have; it’s nothing to change

That feeling that you’re bad; it’s your usual habit

Feel as wretched as you please

No need to amend

I love your wreck; it’s my usual problem

Where will you be, when baby opens her eyes

When you’re wanting anything, you’re unsatisfied

She’s asking about you; it’s her usual habit

You can tell her yourself, if you’re already there

Clouds block the sun; it’s their usual habit

But, the sun in its brilliance, is already there

And the blink of an I, can awaken a moment

Who you truly are, fitting, and already there

It is so hard. Our society is so superficial and materialistic. We are always looking at what others have and envying them. We are always wishing fir MORE. Will it ever be enough? Do we have to hurt people who don’t agree with our ideals? The world would be a happier place if we all were just THANKFUL! Then we could to,errata each other and appreciate our differences and celebrate what blessings we each have.

This poem is dead on. I am not sure if you are a Buddhist, but I have studied some on Buddhism and your writing has that feeling. Sometimes the philosophy can be confusing and vague. I get the idea “we already have everything” and I think most of the time we forget to be happy with what we have in front of us already. I like how you spun this to fit your theme. I think it really takes a brilliance to use another perspective to channel one’s own ideas. And I think you did a pretty terrific job at that. I have read most of your poems and they all seem to reflect your core understanding of yourself. I am sure you have done a lot of work with it. It will be interesting to see other’s comments on the subject.
